*UPDATE 22*
Things are REALLY heating up now! Bill McMurtry in Australia reports that NEXUS magazine hit the streets there (I'm still waiting not so patiently!) and that the GIT article in their Science News section takes up the entire section and is THREE PAGES IN LENGTH! Thank you SO MUCH Duncan Roads! I'm THRILLED! Now if only I can get to read it, our local book mall (Borders) won't get it in until Wednesday or Thursday.
Apparently others are NOT so thrilled, Email and net communication interferance has gone BERSERK! I'm getting bounced mail with frightning regularity now on many in my email group, and several are reporting an inability to reach me by email (after workarounds like using Eudora instead of Microsoft mail).
Jim Kelly reports that his entire library had netscape wiped out, and that he (or anyone else in his library system), can no longer access either hotmail or open.org (My main site server), that the message he receives is that they don't have DNS entries (you Know THAT is false!).
Open.org is the City of Salem Oregon's Governmental network, and, well, I haven't heard of Hotmail going out of business! Other sites are OK, but "somethings" don't want my site or email access available at Jim's library! Apparently my server has perhaps resisted a direct assault on my site, and I hope it stays that way, but if you haven't downloaded my site(s) onto your hard drive, NOW would be a good time!
My digest emails out have exceeded the byte limits on many of the "free" email services, the latest one (4) was 70 kb (I had to rebuild it 3 times because my computer is getting crashy again), and Juno has a 60 k limit (sorry Jeremy), so for my email group, if you didn't receive my latest digest, and you have one of the free email services, I'll try to get you a reduced version later today (it's about time to start "digesting" anyway).
Phillip in South Africa, your server is refusing connection, but open.org will try for 5 days to get my mail to you. I may not be a statistitian, but these "errors" FAR outstrip "mere chance". I'm only that more determined, and if anyone reading this update knows who we can contact to look into massive net interference (the FBI wasn't interested, I TRIED!) PLEASE LET ME KNOW, there are over 5 of my regulars now having interference and strange behavior on their home computers, school and library systems are suddenly ill, in short, we need answers to this assault! YOUR ideas and communications may be next!
The Spider GIT had it's first concept test by Joao in Brazil, He mounted a motor on an arm to another motor, both shafts parallel, and it would apply a sideways thrust to the pivot arm when the outboard motor was started, rotating the other way when he turned it off (decelerated spin, opposite torque), a strong indicator that my torque model thrust generation may be right on! Thanks Joao!
Stats exceeded 60,000 files requested for this month, YIPPEE!, my email group lost one (sad about that); the volume of mail was too much, but I added 5 more, so we are now 27, and more will be added this afternoon.
It keeps getting more interesting, and all I can say to who or whatever is interfering with our computers and communications, is, keep it up, we need to track you down and stick a boot in your behind, the more you do this, the sooner you'll get caught!
Now back to the original update. - 11:30 AM, 31 January 1998
29 January, 1998
WELL NOW! I've been BUSY! Recently, I began an email news and discussion group that I call the "Inner GIT Circle", and so far (as of this writing), 23 folks have joined up, and it is certainly interesting, the discussions going on are discussing my devices (and others) of course, but also things like relativity, energy, gravitation, my GIRO, applications, gyro anamalous mass experiments, and an unususal number of strange computer related "coincidences".
If you would like to receive digests of my email group, Mail me from this link, or tell me so with a letter, and I'll add you into my one button group send of our (and your) discussions! This group has the very latest and up to the minute news, and has the option of jumping in with commentary, reports, links, and other neat stuff!
I will also mail my digests as a "Blind Copy", where others will not receive your email address. I've had contact from a man with an aerospace company, who identified himself as a VP, engineer for his company. Not having permission to make his identity known, that's all I can tell you, but he related to me his intent to experiment with my GIT! Folks that want up to the minute reports from my mail digest like the above person can have me mail them our discussions and breakthroughs anonymously.
Members were first "recruited" among frequent writers, and as I've been answering regular mail, those folks were also offered the opportunity to join in. These discussions have been very helpful to me in developing my theories, and even leaps of concept, one of which I will discuss here.
At the right is Spider GIT, named for the planet carrier in a planetary gear assembly, and as you can see it's VERY different in shape and movement from the original.
In watching the actions of models made by others, and attempting to narrow down the actual mechanism by which the thrust is generated, I have focused on the TORQUE of the orbitals on the race as being the driving force that motivates the now many copies of my GIT.
The Spider GIT will capitalize on this aspect of thrust production IF the experimental tests needed, verify this concept. As you can see, this version will not have changes in the spacing between orbitals, so each orbital now has a steady journey about the orbit, and the horrendous centrifugal forces that the original would have on the race is GREATLY reduced!
The spin accelerations (and decelerations) needed, will be in the same direction and timing as the original, but a MUCH larger TORQUE can be generated, since the spin rate is not lockstepped with race velocity.
You know the "kick" you get when you start up a massive spin acceleration, like the handle of a drill will move with force in the opposite direction from the rotor. The accelerating rotating mass "tractors" on the inertial "fabric" of our universe, and the lever arm attatched to the frame experiences a counter force on it.
Ordinarily, that would only result in a larger spin motion, but with a bilaterally opposed deceleration of an orbital on the opposite side of the race (equal in magnitude but opposite in direction) ALSO places a force on the arm, countering the larger spin, and if the theory proves out with experimentation, results in a linear thrust!
If this works, the spider only has to turn at a rate that will be dependant on the time it takes your spinners to reach maximum design velocity in ONE HALF A TURN OF THE SPIDER CARRIER, and then decelerate the spin rate to near zero on the opposite side, GREATLY reducing the centrifugal force on your frame.
I retain whatever rights I have in this device concept, but as always, encourage experimentation by others.
A simple experiment will verify this, and I have yet to run it, but I'll detail it here:
Take two DC motors with gyro masses attatched to their axels, and wire one motor with reversed polarity so it turns in the opposite direction. Mount them side by side on a flat plate, like a piece of plywood, with the gyro wheels parallel with the ground. Set your assembly on an air hockey table to give it a level and near frictionless surface to test it on.
This test gizmo (if it works) will only give an impulse as the gyro masses accelerate up to speed, and then your assembly will only coast from the impulse as the wheels reach maximum turning rate, but that will be enough to prove the theory.
Again, this is only THEORY at this point, and may be a REALLY dumb thought on my part, but in trying to find the active vectors (that aren't cancelled out), this version has emerged as a very good candidate. It certainly has received mixed reviews in my mail group!
In other matters, Britt Beaubian (link to his GIT pages) in Los Angeles is the first to send me a water test video (waterdv5.avi), stored on his new Fortune City site, under construction. It's about a 5 minute down load, and shows his version of the GIT merrily moving forward in his bathtub!
Britt also has a bulletin board linked in from his GIT pages, and I drop by occasionally to see what others are saying there.
Jeremy Goodall has sent me pictures of his GIT constructions, and I have yet to get them digitized and posted, but they show careful and meticulous work. You'll recall his first witnessed water test had a friend of his name his first GIT, "SOB 1". He's told me the latest version will be called WET (Works Every Time)!
There has been a resurgance of net shennanigans, several regular writers (especially builders) have reportedly been "invaded" by what appears to be the same type of "worm" I've still got on my system. The Crashes are severe in the beginning, then when the infiltration is "settled in" everything appears normal, with the exception that unknown net traffic then continues, one regular writer with NASA connections watches his modem converse regularly with parties unknown (apparently he stays connected to the phone line as a regular practice).
The frequency of email roadblocks has increased dramatically, at least one person a day is erased from their system server with user unknown, service unavailable, or the like, happens WAY too frequently with my communications now, or like with James Hurl in Australia, the networked computers in an address block play "ping pong" with my mail and it bounces back "too many hops". The cluster of "coincidences" has FAR exceeded mere chance.
We must be getting closer to our goals, someone (more like someTHINGs) wants to discourage us, but it is having the opposite effect! Many writers who originally thought I had some interesting but strange ideas, now think there are those that KNOW I'm on to something big, and the remote vandalism, files corruption, and interference only serves to validate my ideas! Ain't life GRAND?! 8-)
I had to stop sending email to James Hurl in Australia, with the traffic I was sending him, when mail bounced back to me (more often than not anymore), my inbox would fill up rapidly, the returned mail doubled with notifications along with returned mail, so I have to save it for James until his classes start again, and we can get back into regular dialog. If you're reading this James, LET ME KNOW YOU'RE STILL WITH US!
If you want to mail me pictures or other large byte files ASK ME FIRST! I've occasionally received nefarious intent mail, and I will begin just deleting large unsolicited files, without even looking at them, so if you send me such things, and didn't get clearance from me first, and I don't answer you, now you know why.
Well, enough for now, I will append this update as needed in the near future. Let me know if you want to join my email group, and let's get this world into space as soon as we can!
David Eugene Cowlishaw - 1:30 pm - 29 January 1998
Inserted 12 Feb 98 - Joao Andrade in Brazil has run the "Impulse test" detailed below, and it failed to produce thrust. The Spider variant as shown will NOT work, sorry about that!!
If you're a large corporation that spent tens of thousands to make this version, all I can say is JOIN MY EMAIL GROUP! (they knew over a week ago, but I'm just now getting it on the website)! I'll detail the events in the next update. DavidC - 11:40 PM Thursday evening (finally got a break from mail! ;).
